Neil L. Cook, BS, MS, MEd.

A USA Triathlon certified coach, swimming Coach and physical education teacher, Neil has been an adult athlete since 1978 - competing in running and triathlete races. He is currently coaching running, swimming, cycling and Triathlon - beginner to advanced competitor, men and women, individual and groups. Neil is also a Serotta certified Advance Bike Fit Specialist.

He has successfully coached many athletes at all levels.  His athletes have not only reached their goals, but have won numerous awards and set Personal Bests. And, they have had fun in the process!

Neil has an extensive educational background in Physical Education, Coaching, Motor Learning and Neurophysiology, as well as many years experience as an athlete and coach. He has been a swim coach since 1965.

His coaching programs are all tailored for each individual athlete. His group sessions and clinics also focus on each individual in the group.

Education:

·         BS Springfield College in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Coaching.

·         MS Adelphi University in Physical Education, Motor Learning.

·         MEd - Columbia University/Teachers College in Motor Learning, Neurophysiology.

·        PhD course work in Motor Learning, Neurophysiology completed (120+ credits) Columbia University/Teachers College.

Coaching Experience:

Neil Cook has been a Physical Education teacher and coach at all levels - elementary school through college. He has been involved with swimming as a life guard, swim instructor, waterfront director, pool director and coach since he was a freshman in high school. Neil is currently coaching adult athletes - in groups, via e-mail and privately.

·         High school coach of swimming, wrestling, track

·         Swim instructor, Waterfront Director open water (Long Island) and pool

·         Head Coach for Mercury Masters, Metro New York competitive running club for women over 50.

·         Assistant Triathlon coach and Head Cycling coach for NYC Team in Training.

·         Private Coach of runners, swimmers, cyclists and triathletes individually, in groups and via e-mail.

·         NYC Marathon Training Run Group Leader since 1992

Neil is currently working with over 200 athletes. He conducts a series of Cycle Clinics and Triathlon Clinics at local shops, races and clubs. He works with a local Masters Swim team doing video stroke analysis and strength training.

Personal Achievements

Competitive runner for 26 years, covering over 50,000 miles and over 700 races, Triathlete for 4 years. Frequent age group award winner, 8th RRCA National 10 Km Masters Championships. Group leader for NYRRC NYC Marathon Training Runs since 1992.
