Diagnostic Movement Screen and Strength Testing

Diagnostic Movement Screen and Strength Training

Our functional movement screen is a test and performance enhancement tool that is comprised of seven tests which categorize and rank your functional movement patterns. This test allows us to identify biomechanical strengths and weaknesses within your movements which then helps us create a training program designed to strengthen those weaknesses, thus maximizing your potential.  If this weakness is not identified, your body will compensate, causing inefficient movements. It is this type of inefficiency that will cause a decrease in performance and an increase in injuries.

Strength training program design-

By utilizing movement as a model for training, we  analyze the human body, how it moves, its utility and its purpose. At Functionally Innovative training, we sort out human movement into 4 basic categories.

These 4 categories or pillars are the ONLY actions that your body can perform at any given time, while you  are usually doing many of the pillars at the same time. They are:

Standing and locomotion

Level changes in the body's center of mass

Pushing and pulling

Rotation

Our 4 pillar philosophy provides a powerful movement model for program design and implementation. The next step is to take those 4 pillars and work them into a 4 tier operational environment. We can only enhance human performance if we understand the environment we will be performing in.

The 4 tier operational environment is:

Gravity

Momentum inertia and impulse

Ground reaction forces

Three planes of motion in 360degrees

If you cannot functionally neutralize and utilize these physical properties, then you are at a disadvantage and are susceptible to injury.

Understanding your movements, we can design a strength training program to aid in injury prevention and increase performance.
